While I'm sitting here freezing, looking at all this snow outside, I can really appreciate the beauty of this animation:

It's really worth a look.

Wow, November is nearly gone!
I can't believe it's the last day of November already. The time just flew by for me, I had a craft show every weekend as well as the Old Strathcona Farmer's Market on Saturdays. My eldest daughter, Mandy, held down the fort at the farmer's market while I did the craft shows. Now I can just sit back and relax as I only have the farmer's markets on Saturday and Thursday. Ha ha!
Well, we sure know Christmas is coming now. It actually snowed today, but it didn't amount to much. I managed to make a few red hearts this morning as I'm now out of them for the markets this week. Speaking of which, I should check the kiln and see if they are ready to come out.

Brrrrrrrrrrrrr
It's sure chilly in the mornings! I'm glad I've got my kiln warming up and in the meantime, have my Yuki to cuddle up to. She's such a loving cat, she'll purr just when I look at her.
I'm thinking of going to Beadworks bead store this afternoon. I love to take Yuki with me when I can. It's the only place she'll actually walk around on a leash! The staff and customers really enjoy seeing her, it's not often you see a cat out on a leash.
Every Thursday I'm at the Alberta Avenue Farmer's Market, on 118 Ave and 93 St from 2 to 7pm. It's a new market, so it is still in the process of getting established. If you're in the area, come check it out.

Okay, have I lost it?
I've only been in my new place for just over one month, but I swear the house across the street from me used to be white. I just noticed it's a lovely deep blue with white trim. Hmmmmm. . . maybe they painted it or maybe I'm just thinking it used to be all white! Oh well.
I'm kind of in a bead-making slump lately. It's easy to keep making the same old things over and over again, but I'm having difficulty coming up with something new. It doesn't help that I still haven't finished unpacking everything from the move. There's not a lot more to do, but I really have to organize my glass collection. I know I have colours in there that I've never used but "absolutely had to have" when it first came out. It was easier in the "old days" when there were only so many colours to choose from.
Yesterday a friend of mine who is a fellow vendor at the Old Strathcona Farmer's Market and I went to the annual fall vendor's dinner and dance. We had a good laugh and a great meal, but didn't stay too late as we were both tired out. Market days are always exhausting!
Here's where I can be found on Saturdays: www.osfm.ca
I'm in the listing of vendors at the market, as Dragonfire Studio.

Enjoying Fall right now
Wow, all of a sudden it's fall here! Last week it was so hot, and this week it's chilly and all the leaves are changing. It's really beautiful. Later, I'll get out and take some pics.

Welcome to my blog
I'm new to blogging, so lets see how this goes! A little bit about me: I've been making lampwork glass beads for 11 years now, and selling beads for the last 10 years. I love bright colours, especially purple! I especially love making tiny, detailed cute beads. One of my favourites for the last little while are tiny hedgehogs, like the one below:
Here's a pic of me at work, this was taken of me at a recent workshop. Yes, my hair is kind of purple. I'm really in need of a dye job here! I did say that my favourite colour is purple :)
For those of you who are curious about what I use to create my beads, I usually work on a Carlisle Hellcat torch, with an OGSI oxygen generator.
I also happen to own the world's sweetest cat, Yukiko (Yuki for short).
I'll post pics of her next time!
